One Two Tree controls the Eastern Lubber Grasshopper.

The Eastern Lubber Grasshopper

South Florida is fertile ground for the Eastern Lubber Grasshopper (Romalea guttata). This primarily seasonal muncher of leafy plants typically arrives in early Spring and departs well into the Summer.

The nymphs are mostly black with a bright yellow stripe down their back and love to eat. Although they have a wide variety of plants in their diet, some of their favorites include the very popular ornamental crinum lilies and hibiscus shrubs.

Lawn Care

When to Treat Your Lawn

What’s most important is to treat for the Eastern Lubber Grasshopper early, upon initial sightings when they are still in the nymph phase. Even then it typically requires 2 treatments, over a couple of weeks to try and interrupt their life cycle. Once they evolve to an adult stage they are almost impossible to control. Happy gardening!

Although quite beautiful, the Eastern Lubber Grasshopper can severely damage landscaping.

What Our Clients Say

"We are a repeat customer and use One Two Tree for tree trimming and pruning for all of our huge oak trees. They brought multiple crews that were able to complete the job within the day. We asked them to keep most of the canopy and just to thin out the branches to allow wind to go through. The crew was respectful, polite, and efficient. Rick is a professional operations manager and responds quickly via text or email. We will use One Two Tree again in the future. Thank you."

Julina Jensen

"I finally found a company with highly knowledgeable servicemen who have made a significant difference in my yard. My grass looks great and my shrubs and flowers are thriving. They are consistent, on time, and even stop by to check on my yard in between services. They frequently ask me if I have any questions or concerns, and they politely address them. I learned a lot from them and I highly recommend them."
